Tomorrow, May 30, at 7:30 we’re hosting our third and final Spring Style Series event at Piccadilly in Bexley! Piccadilly is a modern play and creative cafĂ© for children and parents. We’re excited to use this unique space for our fashion event for something different!

The night will start with friends, wine, and mingling, followed shortly by our very own fashion show! The show will feature trendy boutiques from the Columbus area including Ladybird, High Street Denim, and She She (just to name a few)!  We’ll be highlighting the different modeled outfits and talking about all of the fun trends you can try for summer.

Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the many booths set up at Piccadilly. For all of your fashion needs the boutiques featured in the show will be set up with some of their most popular items. High Street Denim will feature their most popular denim, She She will have a colorful “scarf wall” (with special prices just for the event!), and Stella & Dot will show off their favorite jewelry for the summer! In addition, Replenish Spa will have a table set up demonstrating fresh face make up looks for summertime. Be sure to take advantage and get pampered from this incredible spa.

Don’t forget to stop by re*dress’s table at the event as well! Bring a new or old piece from your closet that you’re looking for ways to wear and we’ll help you style it! This is a great opportunity to revamp something from your closet and get a sneak peek at some of the services we offer.

The greatest thing about this event is that proceeds from tickets go to Camfed! Camfed is a national organization helping to educate girls in Africa. This is a cause we feel very passionate about and are excited to help support!

Finally, the night will end with raffle prizes from re*dress, Piccadilly, Urban Moves, and more! This is a special event you won’t want to miss. Bring your friends and RSVP today!

COLORBLOCKING

One of the hottest trends this spring is colorblocking! Super bright colors are popping up every where this season and we love pairing them with other colors or neutrals. The trend is universally flattering and a pop of color is an easy way to make your outfit feel current and interesting . You're best off keeping the look to three or fewer colors. Too many can be overwhelming, but you need a couple to make the style work.

For a simple start to colorblocking try this top from Splendid. You can pair the colored stripes with dark denim, khaki, or gray to keep the focus on the colors. Try it with a cardigan and wedges for a night out!

Another look we love is with chinos in bright color. We posted about these in our shorts blog, but J Crew’s classic chinos are perfect. They come in so many fun colors. Bright orange hues are huge this season, and we love this J.Crew pant in Poppy paired with a bright yellow or any jewel tone.

Blazers can be worn a lot of different ways and bright colors are no exception! This electric blue blazer found on Shopbop is a fav. Try it with a warmer colored chino (orange or red) to create contrast. Keep a white v-neck underneath to focus on the other two pieces and allow for accessorizing.

We really like the pairing of this button-down and short-sleeved cardigan. Not all colorblocking has to be contrasting colors...hues in the same family work too, such as coral and pink. Stick to a darker denim since your colors are lighter on top. Skinny jeans and nude pumps make this combination evening-worthy!

You can also do colorblocking with dresses! This solid-colored maxi dress from Nordstrom can be paired with a cardigan to add some more color. You could even try the dress with a skinny belt in a pop of color like turquoise for some contrast.

If you're feeling shy and want to start with just a small pop, you can't go wrong with accessories! The yellow clutch and sling-back pumps are both good examples of how to do it. Accessorize an outfit with a solid colored clutch to contrast whatever you’re already wearing, whether it is a bright blazer or colored jeans. Remember, your accessories don't have to match!  It's more exciting and unexpected to add color with an accessory.  Your bright bag almost becomes a neutral - we wear ours with everything!

Maxi & Asymmetrical Dresses

This season we love maxi dresses and skirts! A new twist on the long maxi length is dresses with asymmetrical hemlines—short in the front and long in the back! There are so many options and they’re so easy to wear… a must try for spring.

This colorblock maxi tank dress from C&C California is the perfect dress to start with! It’s casual and the colors are great for a warm spring day. Belt it like the model to give it a little more shape around your waist. Keep it simple with brown sandals. Feel free to accessorize with heavy bangles and bracelets for fun!

Ready to try the new asymmetrical trend? Try this dress from piperlime. The shorter front gives you an excuse to wear those fun, new heels you’ve been waiting to show off! Wedges or pumps would both work great. Accessorize with some long necklaces to complete the outfit.

Another high-low hemline option is this patterned dress found on piperlime, too. The top ruffle, bow at the waist, and pattern all make it a little dressier for a night out. Keep your hair up in a high profile bun and wear a thick, jeweled necklace for extra accessory.

If you don’t want to try the trend in a dress, go for a skirt! The asymmetrical hemline looks great with a fitted tank top or loose fitted t. The solid red color even gives you the option of a patterned or plain top.

Where we found these trends:

C&C California: $98 (Colorblock Maxi Dress)
Piperlime: $79 (Tinley Road Color Block Bloussant Dress)
Piperlime: $308 (Joan Silk Maxi Dress)
Free People: $148 (Pretty Hearts Skirt)

TREND TO TRY: SHORTS

Well, with the past few weeks of warm weather we've had I think it's safe to say spring has officially sprung! Time to pack up those winter pants and pull out your shorts. There are so many shapes and colors to experiment with. Try out any of these styles that we love!

Patterned: We love this floral cuffed pair from Alice + Olivia. Pair it with a solid t and keep the emphasis on the pattern. the print makes it easy to wear casually during the day, or dress up by throwing on a cardigan and cute wedges.

High Waisted: Try this solid black pair of high waisted shorts from H&M for something different. Tuck in a fitted shirt or a blouse and use the bow to bring the look together. Keep your colors on top neutral and wear it with a bright pair of flats or sandals for a pop of color!

Colored: Spring is the time to bring out your brightest colors! This kelly green pair from J Crew is the perfect example. Their new four-inch is a great mid-length between their classic three and five inch shorts. Pair it with a springtime white blazer and you're ready to go!

Denim: Keep it classic with a pair of denim shorts! This cuffed pair from Joe's Jeans is a great pick. Since they can be worn with practically anything, keep them in your closet as a staple piece.

Lace: This pair of lace shorts from Free People is adorable! The lace is playful enough that it can be worn during the day with a casual top or dressed up to go out. We love the coral color for springtime!

Tap: Try out a pair of flowy tap shorts this spring! Belt the top of the shorts at your waist to accentuate the shape of them. Make sure to keep your top fitted since the shorts are loose. Dress it up with some long necklaces and a pair of gladiator sandals to complete the outfit!

Pleated: Another unique shape we like for this season is in pleated shorts. We love the yellow color of this Dolce Vita pair and the skinny belt that comes with them!

ALL THE WAYS TO LOVE DENIM

Denim isn't just a pair of jeans. This season, try switching things up a bit and playing up denim in dresses, blazers, tops and accessories! There are so many ways to wear it and spring is the perfect time to give it a try.

Jump into warmer temperatures witha  cute pair of cutoffs! They're comfy to throw on for everyday wear, but we also love dressing them up with a blazer and wedges or booties. Pair with a blazer, a v-neck tee and ballet flats for the perfect combination of classy and casual.

Denim jackets are a classic piece that will never go out of style... it's all about the attitude you give it. Wear it with a dress and gladiator sandals for a fun, playful look. For cooler days, keep it edgier with black jeans and boots... or try it with one of the season's array of bright-colored denim.

We're seeing denim tops in both fashion and classic silhouettes. We're loving this button down paired with the patterned bottoms! Check out our previous post on patterned bottoms to find some great options to try out with this look.

We're obsessed with blazers... a must-have piece for every woman's closet. Love this one in chambray! Chambray is the lightweight cousin of denim. This piece from J Crew can be worn with anything in your closet--white shorts, denim bottoms, colored chinos... the list goes on! We love the nautical touch with the anchor buttons.

Add a hint of denim in your accessories, and try it in a clutch or shoes! Mix these pieces with alternative fabrics like leather or suede to give dressier, serious pieces a more casual feel.

Where we found these trends:

Piperlime: $167 (Citizens of Humanity cutoffs)
Piperlime: $288 (Current/Elliott denim jacket)
J Crew: $118 (Denim western shirt)
J Crew: $158 (Schoolboy blazer)
Endless.com: $99 (Jalda denim leather clutch)
Zappos: $365 (Stuart Weitzman denim heels)

WHAT'S HOT: PEPLUM TREND

Peplum’s have been popping up everywhere from New York’s Fashion Week to the Oscar’s. This trend—a short flared ruffle around the waistline of dresses, jackets, and skirts—is so fun and easy to wear!

The classic way to wear a peplum is in a dress, either elegant for an event or casual for day-to-day wear. Tina Fey and Michelle Williams were both spotted rocking peplum style dresses on the red carpet for the Oscars last weekend. We really like this classic version of the peplum dress from Alice + Olivia. Accessorize it with big rings, sunglasses, and/or a tote to keep the attention on the dress.

Olivia Palermo showcased the peplum trend during fashion week with this great striped jacket from Tibi. Pair it with a skinny-leg pant and cute pumps to accentuate the flare around your waist. The most important thing to remember when wearing peplum’s is to keep it skinny everywhere else!

This red skirt from ModCloth offers a piece that can be dressed up or dressed down depending on your occasion. Plus it’s a great price! Wear it with a fitted shirt tucked in and tights to focus on the ruffle.

You can also try the peplum in a top! This cream lace top is a great option for spring. It can be worn with shorts like in the picture or a fitted pencil skirt for a dressier look.

Celebs are wearing peplum’s all the time! Check out these great dresses worn by Blake Lively and Reese Witherspoon on the runway.

Where you can find these looks:

Alice + Olivia: $264 (Victoria Peplum Dress)
Tibi: $495 (Peplum-waist Striped Jacket)
ModCloth: $42.99 (Eternal Flame of Love Skirt)
Tibi: $275 (Katya Lace Top)

TREND WE LOVE: OVERSIZED ENVELOPE BAG

We’re loving these oversized clutches! They’re trendy and super practical—they fit all the essentials plus your iPad. Perfect for on-the-go-women who are looking for a new bag to carry. They range in color, pattern, shape, and size so it’s easy to find your perfect envelope clutch for spring!

The first clutch is nude and so versatile! It will match any outfit and can be used in any season. It’s a great starting bag if you don’t want to spend too much but want to experiment with the trend!

Use this brightly colored bag to add a pop to your daytime outfit. The tomato color is great for the warmer weather that’s around the corner! Try it with a flowy spring time dress and a cute cardi.

Want a more classic look? Try this black and gold Tory Burch oversized clutch. As a bonus, this bag features a detachable chain strap for multiple uses.

We love the fold over style in this Fendi clutch! Teal is a big this spring so this color combo makes the bag even better. Unfold it for bigger items (folders, tablets, etc) or fold it over for casual use.

Celeb spotted! Lauren Conrad and friend carry their very own oversized envelope bags at a recent dinner. These are great for nights out because they’re so easily dressed up!
